ok so basically digging deeper here it's not a COVID-19 strain, it's just a ~related coronavirus, actually obtained from pangolins isolated from nature, not crafted all of that headline is basically new york post spin HOWEVER apparently they are still isolating and screening wild viruses against humanized mice! perhaps we have learned less than nothing https://t.co/ViegGogPLM

it seems straightforwardly that people were like "gee, covid SUCKED let's make sure to screen some other (pangolin!) viruses with humanized mice" and they have detected that it can get really bad can we just not directly accelerate this type of research before we know how to contain shit. we can just not do this stuff for a while. really thanks

from the early pandemic the WHO took over a lot of authority for internet soft and hard censorship from Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter. this included "soft" censorship (eg. demonetising ~all covid accounts including public servant luminaries like Dr. John Campbell) shadowbanning (which included me!), outright banning from eg Zerohedge, MaxHowroute, and eliminating or, as on facebook down-moderating algorithmically words such as "lab-leak" or bioweapon. My own video on the shift in policy on this topic had single digit views, 100s of times less than an ordinary post. The whole process was chilling. The regime extended to public censure, including people who were implicated in this mess, like Peter Daszak, calling suggestions that Covid-19 does not have an (entirely) natural origin a conspiracy theory. now, in light of the following fucking fact that apparently the research screening pangolin and I assume bat viruses against ACE2 humanized mice (this is exactly how you get a fucking virus to jump species by the way) HAS CONTINUED, I think it's time we revisit the epistemic status of our institutions,. in retrospect, the WHO, and the government cannot be trusted to not spread preferred CCP/US or whomever's preferred party line. and long standing institutions and elites will have a bias towards ass covering some of the very people you should not trust to be calling things misinformation are those currently championing the expansion of agencies against it. next they'll make LLMs and flood the social media, so that certain signals simply will be unable to propagate against the collective verbal molasses. it's doomed to happen because it's an election year. open source llms run on M3 scale hardware just fine. there will be plenty of controllable tokens available to persuade the masses, and people will start to try everything. buckle up! 1984 + 40 = 2024? resist! people of the free internet, resist! ps: community notes seems like a solid innovation, it should not be the last! pps: check out this *wild* twitter thread from early pandemic from an article posted by chinese researchers -- now deleted from research gate, but not its echo. https://t.co/2fUuR2C239 https://t.co/T0C9zGkRno
