i'm 🤏 this close to getting a Miata but i'm not cool with, you know, dying if i get in a crash 1. have you struggled with this decision? what did you do 2. any safety tips? https://t.co/M1fVUdCozP

we all gotta draw lines somewhere, right? mine is no motorcycles. i will skip this thrill in this lifetime https://t.co/KIyXlLnhj5

@AskYatharth The best resource I’m aware of on defensive driving is actually a book about motorcycles. (Have you considered an S2000? More HP, a bit less bouba, hold their value like little else). https://t.co/DrRX6ubKtH

@georgejrjrjr what do you mean by "bit less bouba"? have you driven both? Miatas are kind of magic. in any case, i'll try scheduling a test drive with a S2000 too @HephaistosF recommended the Honda del Sol, but the S2000 seems more liquid, market volume wise

7. NEVER drive in front of, behind, or besides a truck most common trauma and fatality is probably rear impact. don't want a heavy car slamming into me being aware of what heavy cars are around me actually seems easier in a Miata tailgaters will kill me. don't let them

8. be are of highway curbs and ditches miatas are easier to dodge a pileup in, and less likely to roll than an SUV, but if they do… 💀 so if the highways have an edge that would make me roll, drive even more defensively general theme seems: anticipate danger, be safe enough

11. definitely learn the dangers of rain, especially on the thin ass stock summer tires, with rwd drive https://t.co/UxYYjn1MtP

12. never follow a car i can't see past or over not worth it. just move https://t.co/4xVZkcnimW https://t.co/3P6GLqkByZ

@AskYatharth @unfinished_ben @alt_treehouse It's just a calculated risk tbh. Bought mine for a planned solo road trip and it was hella fun, but also a lot of empty open roads. I eventually sold it after I got home because I thought it was only a matter of time

@AskYatharth My first car I bought was a '97 Miata. Fun car, might not buy again if I were still in Michigan lol (unless I had a garage and it was my second). At this point I can't ever see buying a combustion car again, but if so it would still be high on my list now that I'm in CA.
