if i were starting from scratch w/ my adhd i would: 1. get on a low dose of meds (to give myself a fighting chance) 2. take 2g omega 3, 500mg magnesium, 5000iu vit d daily 3. have a coaching call with @jessicamalonso (she's so good at this!) 4. read gabor mate's scattered minds then when i felt more resourced 1. keep a log of what i was trying to do when i got distracted for a few days (find the emotional triggers) 2. 10m of zone 2 cardio a day 3. reduce stimulation (youtube and twitter fast for 2 weeks) i think the rest of the work would emerge naturally from here

@loopholekid @jessicamalonso tbh that book kicked me in the ass. gave me terms for things i had thought were normal but after reading and asking friends, weren’t. but very well articulated with a path forward (get great at self parenting)

@QiaochuYuan @jessicamalonso vit d: life changer but effects start after a month of 5000iu (if i’m low i take 2000iu for a week). knocks out a good chunk of my brain fog and fatigue. more energy = monkey mind easier to stick with, willpower possible.

@_brentbaum @jessicamalonso huh, maybe i haven't stuck to it for long enough recently. in grad school i experimented with 20k megadoses daily b/c some rationalist suggested it but i don't remember how long and i don't remember if it did anything

@QiaochuYuan @jessicamalonso feels likely! it really doesn’t do anything until it’s built up in sufficient concentration, that takes quite a while it also takes a while to leave so i’m guilty of saying “i skipped my vit d yesterday and i feel fine, guess i don’t need it!” then hurting a month later

omega 3: experience softener. ups and downs are less harsh. i feel like i have a metabolic buffer so i’m running smoother and clean? i started taking it bc i realized i felt really good whenever i had large quantities of fatty food, particularly salmon anita says it’s her happy pill

@OmegaPrime77 don’t know the exact mechanisms but have heard that it indirectly affects serotonin and it also reduces inflammation in the brain. been experimenting with it long enough to feel a noticeable difference. but then again life is full of variables 🤷♀️ alas it’s healthy so I take it.

i'll happily become a low dose adhd meds shill, especially methylphenidate (ritalin). https://t.co/3a8UapuvYI
