i figured this out by age ~6 and it made me miserable, occasionally even suicidal, until i was about 22- but after that it's basically been paradise. (there's an interesting parallel between how people flinch from the full truth of the lowest lows and the highest highs) https://t.co/hHFHydoYDP

to be precise what made me miserable wasn't that the world was the way that it is, but that my social reality (adults in authority, and also many peers) refused to acknowledge the truth, so i was basically living in an oppressive madhouse and plotted my escape while anguished

@potetm one of the biggest was that the internet completely upended traditional notions of jobs, careers, etc, since conventional thinking about those things were built upon old models of media and comms https://t.co/52l4yt9S97

I’ve told variations of this story several times but it bears repeating When I was about 8 years old and I first sat at a computer and typed words into a forum and got replies from people elsewhere in the world, I swear on my life I instantly knew I had found The Holy Grail

if i could change anything abt my past approach, i'd mainly be less persistent in trying to change the minds of individual people, and instead channel that energy into casting much wider nets in search for The Others Who Get It. ie talk to thousands of more people, years earlier

@Hipst3rMusic for me it really boils down to, write/speak honestly in ways that can be re-shared (twitter, blog, youtube, whatever), and then respond sincerely to as many people as possible, eg in the replies of people you respect

@visakanv I feel like I’ve had this moment in stages when different parts of the facade break down (authority figures, family) each one reminding me that it’s all just humans winging it along the way. Even now, I handle it great when reminded of it but other days I feel close to madness

@alicemazzy hehehe hell yeah https://t.co/Ltw0n3OXBs

@No12419 @visakanv I don't know enough about you to give you meaningful advice, but here's a try: you know there are others like you who understand and can help. The only thing you can do is work on pursuing these spaces. When you're financially able to, move, get a new job etc.

@No12419 @visakanv Visa mentions this, being stuck in the wrong environment and working for years. Find the environments you thrive in. Everything gets way better https://t.co/Txlgw1J5z9
