I mean everytime I've done a communication exercise where you're supposed to distinguish feelings & thoughts, I've faked it. I'm sure many people experience them as very different things but for me feelings are like slower more mysterious thoughts

Gendlin Focusing makes sense to me: there's a distinct somatic resonance that distinguishes "the feeling of being ripped off" from "the feeling of being betrayed" "glass (cup)" feels different than "glass (window)" but if I call these "feelings" I fail the exercise

We need 2 diff words for "empathy" (good theory of mind, can predict how another person feels) and "empathy" (feels deeply for another person when you know/hear about what they're feeling)Imo the second is actually "empathy" but ppl use the first definition a lot and it irks me

@RichDecibels Yeah it’s interesting, the further I’ve gone I’ve felt similarly, like when I let go of the contraction around thoughts or feelings then just allow awareness to be with the substance of them they seem to be of the same stuff, but I also find that the case with the senses, like…
