@RichDecibels different but nonseparable imo feels true but trying to elaborate runs into unspeakability issues

I mean everytime I've done a communication exercise where you're supposed to distinguish feelings & thoughts, I've faked it. I'm sure many people experience them as very different things but for me feelings are like slower more mysterious thoughts

Gendlin Focusing makes sense to me: there's a distinct somatic resonance that distinguishes "the feeling of being ripped off" from "the feeling of being betrayed" "glass (cup)" feels different than "glass (window)" but if I call these "feelings" I fail the exercise

I don't have a lot of emotional fluency but I'm not sure that's a deficit, I don't know if it can be trained, and I don't know if it would be desirable

@RichDecibels I notice I'm not using either concept internally. even "cognition" feels like missing the mark now that I think of it

We need 2 diff words for "empathy" (good theory of mind, can predict how another person feels) and "empathy" (feels deeply for another person when you know/hear about what they're feeling)Imo the second is actually "empathy" but ppl use the first definition a lot and it irks me

@RichDecibels Yeah it’s interesting, the further I’ve gone I’ve felt similarly, like when I let go of the contraction around thoughts or feelings then just allow awareness to be with the substance of them they seem to be of the same stuff, but I also find that the case with the senses, like…

@RichDecibels Sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell when I’m not contracting around them or identifying with my interpretation of them seem to be of the same stuff, indistinguishable really
