re: moving israeli jews elsewhere this was my position for a v long time! like if you want to live like this ok i guess but why?? and why should it be anyone else's problem? oct 7 and the following events changed this for me-- https://t.co/EtOZqreBiw

like we generally like israel but not as much as we dont want to have to deal with that entire shitshow we're concerned with urging restraint, which is very civilized of us but also we're not the ones under threat here

i feel like i cant really capture the extent to which my opinions on this have changed and inflamed i never felt like i had a horse in this race, i dont easily empathize with abstract ideas like "nations," but i'm still shocked by the nature and intensity of my anger here

anyway i never saw the point in israel even though i thought it was pretty cool but damn if ppl routinely try to wipe you off the map if your neighbors rape your women on camera and the world's first instinct is to *urge you to restrain yourself* suddenly it makes sense to me

nevermind the fact that if israeli jews flee israel and move to NYC and LA this sends a very strong signal to the world that oct 7th and all the rest of hamas's atrocities WORK and perhaps a weaker signal that it's open season on jews
