> What Is Emotional Spaceholding? It's Not A Framework, It's A Specific Bodily Experience In the last year I've gained lots of emotional strength & range, and I think we don't talk enough about what that looks like! So I wrote a post. link on a forbidden website, via my bio 🌿 https://t.co/4ynaOEpZtY

Turns out I had whole lot to say https://t.co/pm9BXvtnbq

helping people feel better is a learnable skill much like dancing also, it's really obvious when it works, everybody can tell, physical sensations shift wildly to ones that feel joyful https://t.co/NKqbsMlQpY

"Why is it like this? I don’t know. Is it a reminder stay inter-connected, that we really do need each other and in a real physical way we can’t do it alone? Is it a reminder of humility, that some things we just don’t know, and won’t know, even though they seem obvious later, but there’s simply no way to know them without first getting the mysteries of the body involved? Is it the portal through which our soul speaks to us, and this is simply a normal accepted ritual protocol for receiving its messages? Is it emotion physics? I don’t know (yet). Probably some measure of all of the above. But for now, I’m simply happy that it works, and I’m happy to have the skill in my life."

ok this thread's been around for long enough I'll link the post now 🌿 https://t.co/fEdtsdvmkY

an interesting aspect of learning this method - I got like 2x more ambiently emotionally attuned but like 5-6x more attuned when specifically shifted into Spaceholding Mode. and that's a big gulf! I used to assume ambient presence was the whole story. guess not https://t.co/fhiLqP2SE3

@bashu_thanks Oo what cases come to mind for you? I suspect it’s easier to notice when the whole thing being taught is, emotional movement, so prioritizing techniques feels extra weird and it’s an easier dissonance to spot there than in other domains. even as it’s still true in others

@relic_radiation ohhh this is so good! new skill/practice i want to work on, unlocked. i really like the peer-to-peer nature, the okayness with people being at different levels (~”expansion of capacity is part of development”), the simplicity & flexibility of the container

@relic_radiation for me, the counter to the collapse that comes with “i feel like i need to do an emotional space-holding thing now” has been https://t.co/IyDQ56sLuk
