coming to accept the best way for me to be at work is to accept feeling dumb and out-of-the-group and just name when i’m dissatisfied with a process take action to prototype things, advocate up to team to see if they’ll adopt, it’s ok if they don’t

the thing i couldn’t tolerate is if it felt like no one agreed immediately & then i felt dumb & not-with-the-group it’s like the game i was trying to play is “predict what would get accepted & go with the flow” instead of just.. say whatever i really think? and let it be true

@AskYatharth yea group consensus in the short run optimizes for like, familiarity. but so much of the good stuff in life happens when someone sticks their neck out and says “no this different thing is good actually”, and sometimes it takes years or decades for people to come around to it

i should mention this is all contextual. in the context of a small, high-performance, low-politics team in bigger teams, or with more politics, or less performance based, i was different everything depends on role im leaning into, what team doesn’t already have, them etc
