shamans had day jobs https://t.co/PAeoO7wsUr

We talk a lot about the general grey fog of modernity that saps aliveness and all that, but The sniper-precise anti-eros lasers are fucking impressive too So many funnels for finding *exactly* what you’re passionate about, and turning it into your torture chamber . https://t.co/iQ4yJxfNoh

in a two hour podcast, john mayer said he used to come back from school every day and play guitar for hours. it was his secret project. he felt like he was in 21 Jump Street, the way his undercover mission was ostensibly being a student, but his real mission was playing https://t.co/RV8rY39PwD

that kind of relationship does something. it buffers you. john mayer absolutely did want to commercially succeed—really badly, and optimised got that. but his relationship to guitar was buffered, developed, established https://t.co/RoerOBLwjr

@AskYatharth @dschorno Having a day job is like running away from a tsunami. You have to do it and it pulls you away from your real interests and it gets to decide how long you are pulled away and how much of your energy gets diverted to it. "By the sweat of your brow will you eat" etc
