it feels so different to interact with music this way than my previous way: selecting tracks in the dark-green ux of spotify each of these songs came from someone i loved, or a place i was. each of these songs was sung, and i can sing. they lived on in a voice, passed around

i wouldn’t have known what to make of these words a few years ago, but this experience, of having experienced what it’s like for a few different groups to have sung this song makes the energetic body real the experience of "the song i heard yesterday came from someone who’s im going to meet in a few days" and it passed around this asheville community makes the social body real

it mattered i heard these songs enough times i remember them it mattered they were made for an oral tradition, sieved for what shines through in memory there was a direct, energetic participation in the handing down of these songs

@AskYatharth @relic_radiation Yeah, lots of songs I wish I had recordings of. Esp if I want to learn them myself, even just singing, it's hard to learn the words only hearing it in a group
