The church failed LGBT people by teaching shame. Whether or not this was the intention (and I would point the finger and say, yes it was), the elevation of homosexuality above other sins in discussion has solidified an outgroup that many Christians have learned to, frankly, hate.

Non-believers are sinners. Believers are sinners. The only difference is faith in God's salvation. There are secular ways of saying the same thing, but the main insight is the same: your release from suffering, and way to closeness with the unknown, depends on forgiving yourself.

Those who have learned shame and guilt will distance themselves from God every time they sin, as the difficulty of confronting the truth of one's actions is so much harder when one's own conscience punishes them for honest self-reflection. https://t.co/0Lxn9JqAD5 https://t.co/Dzj8ZN5cPo

If you have Gödel, Escher, Bach on your reading list, maybe try having a read. For me it gave me the foundational ideas that let me understand the mechanisms of a theistic faith. This was what caused me to put behind my atheism. (Lifelong Christians still ought to read it!) https://t.co/OwYLCetGDc

God shall do the work of revealing in you your purpose and your path forward. For me to say anything about what he will say to you is to meddle in your personal relationship with him. This is not my place; all I can do is tell you that you can have such a relationship. https://t.co/WHODxGuiQ9
