listen, this is not a call to retvrn. 1950s USA had stable social structures, but it was a fragile stability built on subjugation & marginalisation, belonging built on sameness we need to build new structures for belonging that are not predicated on conformity

@RichDecibels Okay but if I am actually right, I'm not going to back down from that. Morality is actually important and is not just some subjective social reality thing. Some things are actually good and some things are actually bad, it isn't all just subjectivity with no ground.

@RichDecibels max weber was really onto something. WASP predetermination and hyperindividuation (aka alienation) are so integral to capitalism's directionally (and thus US law) that Americans have a handicap even imagining social bonds imho

If you spent time talking to grandma about the troubles everyone went through, there were old folks dying alone, problem children, and broken marriages, all tucked behind closed doors for fear of losing employment due to ostracism.
