"My favorite metaphor is the spider and its web. So, extended cognition researchers have been showing - there's new research every day pretty much - that a spider's cognition is not limited to its brain or its body. A spider's cognition extends into its web.

And if you damage part of the the web, the spider acts as if it has had a stroke. Human beings are like this too. Most animals have some amount of extended cognition.

We are ultimately only 'self' through other. We're in a constant intaking of otherness to very materially, metabolically, build our bodies. Out minds are not in our heads. Our minds are territories we inhabit; they are territories that multiple beings inhabit.
