there's an incredible story going on in the mountaineering community rn. there's a Malaysian climber who was at death's door, and was rescued by a sherpa who risked his own life to carry his lifeless body on his back for 6 hours. The climber then blocked the sherpa on Instagram https://t.co/AJW70vJ3Kr

here's a video of the sherpa. astounding. I would've assumed that having one's life saved like this would be a humbling experience, one of profound gratitude https://t.co/fDAspP9O35

the sherpa, Gelje, had even persuaded his own client to cancel their own attempt so that they could save Ravi's life. Ravi then subsequently did media appearances and ig posts etc and said nothing about Gelje. Blocked him!! https://t.co/XjnWzR8qjO

anyway. 👑 Gelje Sherpa!!! 👑 May you have a great rest-of-your life and may your name and deeds echo eternal through Valhalla 🫡 > "Saving one life is more important than praying at the monastery," said Gelje, a devout Buddhist. https://t.co/LbbnUrOS4o https://t.co/Dgb7aWtJpw

looks like Ravi has since updated to acknowledge the sherpas, and unblocked Gelje... who responded with tremendous grace https://t.co/Std02cBLK3

@visakanv With only this thread as context I’d bet the explanation is super banal like “oh shit now I’m getting 20k notifications a day, guess this is an easy way to stop the ones that all look the same”
