leaving the rationalists was on some level one of the hardest things i've ever done. it was like breaking up with someone in a world where you'd never heard anyone even describe a romantic relationship to you before. i had so little context to understand what had happened to me

i see the human mind as an exquisitely delicate and powerful learning machine, sifting through vast reams of sensory data constantly looking to make sense of the world and guide action through it. most of this data is filtered out of consciousness but it’s still there. storytime:

- The principle of charity. Maybe some decoupling. Irreverence. Kindness and honesty needn't be at odds.- Curiosity about people in other places and times - mostly about how they are similar to us- Malaria over AI, animals over longtermism https://t.co/vLP8cUjU85
- Drawn to creating art, to being moved by art. Maybe exquisite corpse and collaborative drawing games and aleatoric art sound fun to you, or you wish you were the type of person for whom they were fun!- into books, fic and nonfic! + maybe a third more complex thing (poetry?)!
