there’s no real connection to an internal experience, at least one that doesn’t feel scary so it’s hard to empathise that there is a whole world of experience in other people, that’s sacrosanct

there might be a lot of picking up others feelings, even an uncanny ability to sense them accurately but it’s different from feeling the reality of another human being. you kind of need to experience your own first

it’s simply impossible for children with a narcissistic parent to develop a sense of self, unless they have strong connections with other adults boundaries between a child and a parent are not important to a narcissistic parent. in fact, they’re actively threatening
