Clarifying my basic relationship to folks like Rob Burbea, Philip K Dick, Carl Jung, James Hillman, RD Laing, and anyone else who left behind not only their formal work, but also copious evidence of their personality and history and the signature of their being alongside it:

I love Rob burbea, he’s been a huge help on finding my path. -Soul-Making Dharma largely misses me. Philip K Dick strived with mystery tirelessly, exploring fragments of revelation with dynamic integrity. -his Exegesis is largely evocative nonsense and tail-chasing

Carl Jung tricked the world into accepting a forgotten relationship with the underworld, by dressing it up as intellectual busywork. He’s a goddamn hero. -his books are evocative & foundational grist, but more of a starting point than The Thing Itself

William Blake defended his right to exist and express his being in the world, and his fervor and incisive persistence are holy-fuck-level inspiring -his big ol Gnostic cosmology is impenetrably dense, good stuff but damn.

On and on and on The people I get the most from, the people I admire the most, the people whose works spark my soul,, It’s not because the produced something that was So Correct, or their work was so useful to me in its particulars. (Often a factor, but not The Thing)

It’s because they offer the singular experience of -seeing them, as a person, as a unique type of person and expression of Being -seeing their authenticity and sovereignty and integrity -seeing what expressions come from the authentic expression of that type of soul & life

There’s nothing more valuable than that. From those factors, I can triangulate the landscape, get a better understanding of my own self and soul, my own sovereignty, and what kind of Expression-of-Being my own life pulls towards being

That’s the value I find in Jung, in Burbea, in Blake, in Hillman, in anyone who seems to clearly express those three basic qualities. It’s not that I want to follow them. In fact a very common theme among them is literally “you can’t follow my path, you aren’t me” https://t.co/yABv4jGA0N
