i have this voice of my parents saying, “if you mute people, that makes you weak! you won’t be able to cope with the world outside!”

but really that’s not true. your timeline is kind of like your home. if you don’t even have the strength to kick people out of your home you don’t want to be there, you are not strong

it’s the same sort of realisation as realising confidence is about safety (not: ignoring safety) (not: living in survival mode all the time) but knowing your energetic yeses and nos to create a home that you feel extraordinarily safe in and can leave at times to go outdoors

that’s what it means to have an active exploratory system. you have places and people that feel like homes, and you feel empowered to explore outside not constantly scanning the environment in threat detection mode https://t.co/dr8BURcPnd

before understanding this, confidence felt like a trick something you did to convince people. and it worked. with investors, acquaintances, etc. but human relationships are a whole different thing. what i didn’t realise is confidence was actually about safety https://t.co/G3sO8VrxCo

your mind is like your home, and your timeline (if you’re not scrolling it mindfully) is like your home. have an indoor timeline and outdoor timeline

noticed this several times: when i mute someone for being annoying, after about two years, i can unmute them and no longer find them annoying. even the original annoying tweets stops bothering me as much. wonder how that works
