*:·゚✧ my own personal notes from last week's somatic sessions *:·゚✧ https://t.co/h7J8eONF6Y

community emotional health event, round 2! @JamesMayfield_ is the best trauma healer / somatic coach I've personally met, & now he's affordable & accessible on the internet. 2.5hr weekly group availability Nov&Dec. he'll run it w his decade of xp, I'm there to learn. come join😍 https://t.co/9s1ZApCIVS

Huh I quite like that James brings personality even amidst the reverence of engaging with grief, shame, etc. I've been frustrated before to find 'reverence' equated with 'I will never have fun ever again', and blessedly that's not true in this space.

It's not stonefaced space-holding, or overly solemn in here. If anything I wanna get popcorn and watch with rapt attention, & later vibe out about how gnarly those shadow depths were, bro, congrats for facing them! I do want to keep appropriate reverence too, tho.Bookmarking 💜

"a lot of human conflict is caused by not being able to hold connection and power needs simultaneously" - ah the good ol' needs chart. we're getting a lot of mileage out of it. https://t.co/fy2NkQOtUL

@JamesMayfield_ @AskYatharth oh I've got the other chart on hand! my biggest surprise is that in your frame that there's stuff *beyond* our basic needs that keeps life moving; a threshold point where life shifts & becomes easeful, yet still unfolding maslow's doesn't have that https://t.co/ebKj6KkBgQ

I have traveled quite a bit and I personally found within-US culture shock much emotionally harder than culture shocks between different cultures. so I've left behind all social scripts of what "should be hard" vs. "shouldn't," in favor of trusting my lived experiences

inner conflict resolution involves: calling in a part of us that can hold both sides as essential wisdom, without making either bad or wrong. it's not a 'concept that makes intellectual sense' - so much as a literal somatic feeling to step into and embody.

James often teaches the skill to 'hold ourselves' while experiencing intense emotions. I've mentally translated that to "stay present and responsive like a real person with a spine in the eye of the storm... anchored in metabolism, rather than spinning my wheels"
