im clearly an attractive man. it’s confusing. i thought it would solve all my problems, but it only solved like 40% https://t.co/pvX9dDYLrE

Parents and teachers and peers all unwittingly conspire to create this mass hallucination where people collectively mutilate, cauterize and brand their minds in service of The Economy - and not The Economy itself, but their imperfect, vague and detached conceptualization of it

@visakanv all of this goes back to some internalised idea of “right” https://t.co/ra1BuyTaYl

@AskYatharth @abhayance one weird corollary of the this is that the desire to have there be a right way to do it sometimes amounts to a victim stance, because it allows you to say "but I did it right?! why didn't it work!?" I mostly point at this re trust-building/comms, but it applies everywhere

@visakanv where the *narrative* is the focus, instead of the real world, where it is simply okay to lose https://t.co/QnPBR0L681

@AskYatharth @visakanv > just convince them no, FIND them https://t.co/KqXY0O3cBp

@AskYatharth hahahaha yep https://t.co/AzcNwfleaQ

@AskYatharth honestly though the more I peek around the edges of the frame - the more confused I am about how 'attractive' got to be so hyped up in the first place https://t.co/uOfYnQUllE

@AskYatharth my working model is "people optimize for money, status **and attractiveness** as a proxy for having the freedom to do what they really want" https://t.co/VpB5J2MSac

a lot of people fantasize about money n status as a proxy for having freedom to do what they really want. interesting thing is that if you're specific about what you really want, you'll often find there are more accessible paths to get there that dont require as much as u think

@strangestloop @relic_radiation this reminds me of https://t.co/QwIeJsGfpH
