Honestly, I wouldn't even feed that to chickens. I'd feed it to insects and then farm the insects as food for the chickens. https://t.co/4fCaG7AhXr

Also worth noting that the SCFA production by gut bacteria doesn't work if we keep pumping them full of antibiotics.https://t.co/q3xmi1xuhcMakes me wonder what spent oat milk flour taste like if fermented.https://t.co/xrPr3M5MnS https://t.co/7qkGQCvKFo

How can we destabilize the incentives that have farmers & industrial butchers pumping chickens full of antibiotics for short term gains?

Oatmeal is one of the few plant based fiber sources that I've been able to stomach during Crohn's flairs. The Collagen in it seemed to have actually helped me by working toward production of butyrate.

I'd stick some of that flour in my gut boosting dog treats, but not at that mark up. I'd also want to be extra sure it was sourced from pesticide free.At those prices, I'm probably better off just making my own oat milk & mixing in the fibers myself?https://t.co/IlfDwzgHWo

The idea that we are able to make oatmilk easily and have this waste product in high enough quantities that we gotta find things to do with it? That is an exciting idea to me even if that product is basically a scam. https://t.co/gn9hNaSxeo

@simonsarris I would be interested in a human grade wholesale version of this stuff to help feed bacteria as part of a way to get oatmeal into my diet (the collagen helps me a lot). Its nifty they can mill it at all TBH. https://t.co/f8lR0YGAhNBut marking up spent stuff sounds like a scam.

It suggests we might be able to get healthier part of grain after years of just throwing it away because of challenges in industrial milling.https://t.co/b3jzb82d7O

@then_there_was @paulg Western bread production is equally suspect - we throw away the most nutritious part of the wheat berry and because the fats gum up the mills and the high nutrient density makes the flour not shelf stable.

Protip: if you really wanna up the nutrient density of your breads, mill your own wheatberries. They keep fairly well if kept dry, and you can make them on demand so you don't have to worry about the spoilage concerns you get if you try to sell them on the market.

If you ferment it, you get a ton more B1 than you would get from store bought flours. The fermentation neutralizes the anti-nutrients, and you can get the extra B vitamins and fats that would normally be thrown away.

Industrial bread making doesn't do any of this cuz it takes too long and isn't shelf-stable so grocery stores don't stock it.In other news, does anyone know of a good home grain mill?

A neat things I figured out experimenting with @alexeyguzey's ideas. If I soak Musesli overnight in kefir, it seems to be less harsh on my gut when eating unsoaked ones mixed into the dog treats. It doesn't digest well for me if I skip this.https://t.co/MmooVYvKAh

This makes a bit of sense. Most of the sour dough breads are basically just lactic acid bacteria doing their thing on the grains and sugars.Gonna try soaking steel cut oats overnight to see how they taste.

I bet garlic + kefir + oat fiber would be absolutely lovely to feed chickens.Still think we would be better off feeding them insects fed off the oat fibers tho.https://t.co/xOKT5xTUJZ

"If garlic is so effective at pulling lead out of chickens’ bodies, why not more directly exploit “garlic feeding” by eating it ourselves? Well, there had never been a study on the ability of garlic to help lead-exposed humans until…2012?" https://t.co/zLTr2nYjIe https://t.co/62jnJqPXt0

What happens if I spit into milkbread laced with urine and feces.Would it become alcoholic as my oral microbes can ferment dairy? https://t.co/tSdJUXBkrlhttps://t.co/y7stQ8QaVb
