rereading The Master and his Emissary, I realized that everything I wrote about dating problems sums up to: dating is fucked because people are trying to date in a LEFT-BRAINED way (wonder what @Malcolm_Ocean and other McGilchrist fans will think of this) https://t.co/VrdcK132tB

the root cause of basically all dating problems is people thinking about themselves, from the inside out: how dating feels for them, what they want, how it fits their story, how they were hurt, how they need to change and improve to get dates, what scares them, etc.

and of course apps are forcing you into this left-brained mode. they don't show you relationship potentialities or the experiences of being in someone's presence, but people reduced to flat collections of enumerated attributes like height and age and political affiliation

@yashkaf 100%. Note how the older ways of meeting were much more relational (friends, family, and dense communities). Interestingly, the only one going up besides the skyrocketing "met online" is "bar or restaurant" "Met Online" should distinguish swiping from a virtual scene tho smh https://t.co/nr8iawgz4l
