you can't choose to expect someone to do anything other than what you expect them to do but you can choose to let them do it, if you can trust yourself to take care of yourself no matter what happens

mostly people don't allow others the freedom to actually make their own mistakes if we expect someone else to do something we don't like, we try to get all up in their gears to stop them this is disruptive to their learning process, and feels pretty fundamentally disrespectful

letting other people make their own mistakes is a very basic and underappreciated form of respect
