when @Malcolm_Ocean introduced me to twitter he gave me a short starter pack of threads about threading. one of them was visa's twitter_rpg_strategy_guide.txt which remains one of the best things anyone's written about how to conceive of twitter imo https://t.co/8amExGW0O3
The key feature of (public) Twitter is that any player can interact with any other player. Any player can reply to any other playerās tweets, or retweet it, or quote-tweet it. This bypasses traditional limitations of both āreal lifeā as well as older web mediums like āblogsā.

btw @michaelsayman i cannot possibly express how much i think twitter should *not* have an edit button. being able to edit tweets hurts QTs as a feature. QTs need to be able to point to tweets stably (this is why tweets shouldn't be deletable either) https://t.co/cHlUMeXlXy
when you quote an excerpt of a document in another document the author of the original document should not be able to edit their document in a way that changes the text in yours. that would be ridiculous. same with QTs and tweet editing
at the very least tweets should have a full public edit history or else you're just giving people license to rewrite the history of threads arbitrarily. the QT feature makes tweets *historical documents*, this should not be possible
