a fairly common mistake charismatic-offline people make on Twitter is tweeting rhetorical questions and then getting annoyed when people answer earnestly

this strikes me as a sort of “plaintext medium illiteracy”. if you made a tiktok instead it would be much less of a problem because people will be able to hear the tone in your voice and see your body language although even then a minority of literalists will still answer the qn

@visakanv It took me years and a lot of training to be able to detect this stuff as a result of underlying autism issues.

@visakanv they forget to add "wrong answers only" which is how you do rhetorical questions on twitter

@Malcolm_Ocean @visakanv I've been intentionally interpreting this as "try to answer the question in a non-conventional way that is taboo but still possibly accurate"Or as a playbow to explain how one of the wrong answers is actually right.

@ultimape @visakanv yes, that's also a fun way to do it and honestly part of the nice thing about "wrong answers only" is it encourages people to reply with SOMETHING because there's zero pressure to say anything correct or useful creates a space of play, undoes the teacher vibe associated w Qs 🤯
