reverse engineering digital & biological malware has much more in common than typically appreciated & this fact will go on to define much of both fields' development over the next decade as the twin crises of {bio,cyber}security become critically acute
its in everyone's favor that their practices & institutional knowledge cross-polliante, a shared corpus developing around capturing, understanding, defanging, and repurposing these life formsvirology's lineage tracing, infosec's decompilation & modeling toolchains
how long before the lines between these two disparate types of parasite begin to blur? when will we see the first diginotic spillover, a virtual virus making the jump to biology by hijacking molecular assemblers? or vice versa, a biological pathogen fluent in network protocols?
there are myriad references to such in scifi; see the protomolecule of The Expanse or the nanobots of Orbital Childrenwill diginosis convince the public that human uploading is viable? if a pathogen can cross the Rubicon, why not us? it's but a matter of scale after all
