i remember crying as a child, but it always felt so strategic. it felt so unfair
like i could make this move called “let my eyes do the thing” and suddenly everyone would be on my side and everything forgiven?

i used it now and then, but . . . i don’t think i was relating to it in the same way other people seemed to be
