@AskYatharth non optimal local decisions are necessary to avoid being trapped.

@RomeoStevens76 but this is not even about rationality https://t.co/P59RJc6APE

/this isn't about rationality/ it isn't even about meta-rationality it has nothing to do with rationality yes, it is meta-rational to realise "locally suboptimal decisions can be globally optimal sometimes" but id realise this and get stressed about that

@AskYatharth But I still mean it without the sense of global optimum. Just getting unstuck and having that be better.

@RomeoStevens76 @AskYatharth Had a similar sense some time ago: The fact that it ought to be hypothetically possible for you to be at peace with any situation doesn’t mean you are supposed to just doggedly try to make things work on current terms.

i get to say no [🤯] if an opportunity presents itself, i don’t have to take it [🤯] previously, it felt like i needed to be going as fast as possible. as fast as possible, or else. i’d fall behind the race i couldn’t say no. couldn’t fall behind

100% agree with this decisions felt super heavy stakes, even something like to buy a water bottle or not it sucked https://t.co/CeikpTkM59

this is not about figuring out the best thing to do it's figuring out the capacity to be and tolerate ok tolerate subrationality, submetarationality feel excess https://t.co/hShMAytnkt

there was a friend i was talking to recently, and he commented to me about feeling “free.” i asked him how, and the best we could come up with was for the first time in his life, he had excess

this is such a subjective, inner experience shift in feeling, there is no way rationality or meta-rationality comes close to being relevant it's not about making the good decision or realising it's ok not to it's about a felt shift in being
