Did someone say vestigial human hibernation? 😇 https://t.co/2wmFre0Zpc

I wrote an essay about an extremely interesting theory of the obesity epidemic that I came across. Read a history of fad diets, how croissants can help you lose weight, and details about squirrel hibernation and mania you never knew you needed to know: https://t.co/JSKw6s6BTo

This is great.SCD1 is even hit by gut microbiota produced butyrate.https://t.co/VLeedc6BlXand seems to be tied together in a regulatory fashionhttps://t.co/RphNkhftLChttps://t.co/W3Cjvdpv47

"several limbic [...] and cortical brain regions [...] and neurotransmitter systems (dopamine, serotonin, opioids and cannabinoids) as well as the hypothalamus are implicated in the rewarding effects of food"https://t.co/q9bBnIT8NShttps://t.co/OSgfuMdLC8

"If this observed relationship between high serotonin, torpor and hibernation, low metabolism, and environmental scarcity is seemingly conserved in bears, squirrels, and locusts (even hamsters, which I didn’t talk about) [...]" https://t.co/vA4xY7Q0owhttps://t.co/R9UllW1qor

Tired: solving my autism.https://t.co/4NxGl1V28G

@pmarca @sbaroncohen Lots of fun studies suggest that precursors for serotonin production improve autism symptoms. My big hunch is that we've overlooked gut bacteria's role in mediating brain chemistry factors related to signal penetration, and this is tied to so many chronic GI issues.

Turning that SCD1 up a Notch with some delicious gut bacteria metabolites. Like one does.https://t.co/bANdbuQ8y1https://t.co/XS3iwOfqCC

"Hibernation will actually help protect people from the harmful effects of radiation [...] damage caused by high-energy particles can result in cell death, radiation sickness or cancer,"https://t.co/W1TsvKspz2https://t.co/iKsFvd2bRc

@bcminister @VitalikButerin That bone loss is a 'problem of aging' that can be explored via space research. It might help astronauts not pee out their bones, and may have interesting impacts on heart disease. https://t.co/WzSliS7FwZCan be directly translated to help heart problems among impoverished.

I love that I am ahead of NASA.https://t.co/OdCy0X3S05

Mice studies are better than human studies for one simple reason: the food is different and you can't drink alcohol in space due to the water filtering not being able to handle it.https://t.co/kcXV9xBlBZ

Do a twin study but not control for space food?🤪"could be due to the food he consumed while on the space station (mainly freeze-dried or thermo-stabilized prepackaged food) although other space-specific environmental factors may have also contributed. "https://t.co/u8KT9ycpEO

I love that i'm ahead of Nasa. here they describe B and T cell dysfunction as a consequence of space travel's disruption of gut microbes leading to increased infection by influenza etc. Published yesterday. https://t.co/O7v0JbZVPt

"The addition of untargeted serum and faecal metabolomics would have further strengthened this research and future studies should aim to quantitatively profile the specific deconjugated, dehydroxylated, oxidated, and epimerised bile acids in the system." https://t.co/z0kFhUk8r4

I have been 3-6 years ahead of the curve in my predictions. https://t.co/Q3AMq9sKeu

Space! Gotta get to space!(i'm pretending i'm a space-core)https://t.co/vpY0cHIqtZ https://t.co/79hqdkqQxP

@bryan_johnson Did you know spaceflight causes rapid aging? :3"Our objective was to assess the presence of biological markers and pathways related to frailty, aging, and sarcopenia within the spaceflight context." [2024] https://t.co/7yPSB9NX3hhttps://t.co/OZoC5V6alz
