"rotators/wordcels are not stem/humanities" ok, ok, but what does @tszzl actually mean by that?

shape rotators are thing-oriented, empiricism-oriented. does the thing work, does it compile, does it sell to people wordcels are about distilling the world into symbols, and manipulating them. concept algebra

shapes: things, you can actually move language: creating symbols for the world and playing with it

this is why shape rotators are geometers, wordcels algebraists wordcels are literally playing algebra with concepts, emotions, words

this is why computer scientists can be wordcels shape/word ≠ math/humanities math that gets complicated enough often becomes wordcelly it’s a way of thinking: things, empiricism, vs symbols, frameworks

the failure mode of wordcels is the symbols shear off the real world the wordcels can masterfully make the symbols work, and make you feel things can they do shit in the real world? the real world doesn't care about symbols the unhinged schizophrenic

the failure mode of shape rotators is merely that you can’t get them to see things that are not directly in front of them as easily have autists understand and perceive the social game around the board game have them see context

anytime you've lost the real world for its context, you are a wordcel wordcels are about context. their failure mode is all context, no substance rotators are about substance, and they can miss the context entirely

turns out there's an entire undercurrent of tribalism this totally taps, and it's something like the resentment at the "wordcels" of educated coastal elites who can say words good but don't necessarily seem to "build stuff" and add value that way
