reading Merleau-Ponty allowed me to begin perceiving my own habit-body just because i, my consciousness, was happy, didn’t mean by body was whether or not my body felt loved was a lived set of habitual responses; it was something else entirely from my cognitive layer

“i kind of feel, you know, parenting is the crucible in whch our existence is defined. because if we’re fortunate enough to have loving parents absolutely from day one, they are the living human being who reinforce the fact that we can rely on their existence”

something alienated about Descartes. because it’s not relational. it’s abstract “we come into existence by being taken care of” “and that’s literally relational; it implies the existence of an other,” one you don’t fully understand, yet you rely on

it’s a different thing to be accustomed to relying in parts of the world that are not “you” versus to be trying to process everything in your mind and defend against it

this isn’t to say Descartes’ work isn’t valuable. it is to ask what sometimes makes it perhaps the only relatable paradigm of many https://t.co/IMJh61gD6G
