He who controls your political theory controls your sense of agency. A corollary: you are only ever as agentic as your political theory says is the upper bound of rational agency. Don't hand over your agency just like that. It's a mistake. It's really yours to keep. Own it.
Importantly, even the best politics of today assume a substrate of standard human agency as their "fuel". It sounds silly *right now*, but sustainable long-lasting non-neurotoxic MDMA-like consciousness will change the landscape of viable politics. My strategy: plan for that.
You may be tempted to be cynical about the motivations of everyone. But giving up on genuine compassion as a motivation is not just a tactical error: it's a misrepresentation of reality. Indeed, the super-cooperator cluster exists already. It's just not at a critical mass yet.
I picture it thus: a giant ball of luminous consciousness motivated be highly intelligent compassion is in fact approaching Earth. It's the flipside of Roko's Basilisk. You won't be punished for not bringing it faster; you'll be rewarded for acausally cooperating with it now.
Assume it will in fact win, because working under that assumption increases its probability of success. Don't eat the seed corn. Find the others who have enough energy to achieve escape velocity from standard human agency. Eliminate suffering systematically. You'll be loved.
