pondering my orb trying to figure out what happened. what is the cause. covid response is a symptom. trump: symptom. i think wokeness is a symptom--we /had/ a cultural immune system that handled this more or less well. alternatively: diseases that were present but subclinical

i guess the proper term for these things is "opportunistic infections" illnesses that a healthy person would shrug off, but which can be fatal when a compromised individual is exposed https://t.co/uuvibtrz2b

@eigenrobot This is an old problem that recurs cyclically. When a group gets big enough and old enough it also gets fat and becomes more susceptible to shocks. To add to that, our monoculture has unlocked new levels of rigidity not previously available-

@eigenrobot -better communication capability means better control capacity. Better control capacity means better ability to ignore change, which means greater susceptibility to a sweeping change later since little changes are not made sooner.

@eigenrobot Immune systems weaken as we age. Multiple issues compound. In the last few years, there’s often a rapid decline. Doesn’t help when you don’t eat well, don’t work out, don’t have healthy relationships with your community. Nothing is forever
