a Rust programmer pivots into cutlery https://t.co/XeeeqaiaAg

@whitequark I think so, chiten plus "Gelidiaceae" plus sodium aglinate https://t.co/bmYJTSDNNpThat "Gelidiaceae" is likely better transtanted into 'agar' a chemical that comes from seaweed. It's a vegan gelatin substitute.

@whitequark The ozone + alkaline steps were "deacetylation" which is an important step for plastic making https://t.co/wIY4tttCSx

@whitequark I also found this, which suggests part of the process is amenable to creating fibrous material.https://t.co/G0vxv26poXI suspect the microwave step made a sort of mat of this kind of stuff, but can't confirm. This is really cool!

@whitequark Not sure if the ozone step is part of that deacetylation step. It probably just an oxidizing/bleaching agent and helping to clean it of random organic compounds. It does funny things to cell walls.Might be able to get away with ultrasonic bath + leaving it out in sunlight.

@whitequark Hmm, These aren't the same symbols. (from their latest video on making a silver imbedded chocolate knife) https://t.co/p2aD4N6wcX
