Them: inclusive language isn't hard.Me: years of psychological trauma induced by a society hell bent on policing my failures at recognizing normative gender pronouns has given me a complex over what amounts to an issue of language rigidity in autism.Them: You're a bad person.

We live in a society where people get real mad if you misgender their dog. Dog please, I misgender myself.I look in a mirror and don't recognize me. If I am shaved w/ long hair, I refer to myself in my culturally imbued femme pronouns.Fuck language. https://t.co/bbA6QaNeaz

At least on twitter I can spend the time to look up people's pronouns and edit my text after the fact so that gendered language is transformed into "they" and "them" as much as possible. But I've been trying to unlearn similar grammatical mistakes since 4th grade with no luck.

Is there a chrome plugin I can run that highlights problematic gendered language so I don't have to experience this reoccurring anxiety and trauma over what I call everyone? I'm sick of feeling dredd every-time I have to activate part of my brain that deals w/ gendered language.

Them: this shit is easy, even a baby could do it. You're just refusing to because you're a monster.Me: check your allistic privilege."We linguists believe that a normal person implicitly computes this stuff in their heads, without thinking about it"https://t.co/OeobYpiFq5

I hate this discourse because so often it boils down to "you're lazy" or "you're just tring to excuse youself for being an asshole".I understand that, some people are being an asshole. Even w/ my lack of sarcasm skills, even I could see people being assholes over trans people.

Even then, I overlook swaths of sarcastic ire being thrown at people. Heck, I didn't realize Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was full of sarcasm until the condescending wonka meme. & I played as charlie in a play!If I come off as sarcastic, 98% of time I'm just a naive fool.

it/itself isn't even right for me.The set of people who put "attack helicopter" in gender field to lampoon it; they reject gender identity deviation. The set of people who put in 'attack helicopter' because they reject the notion that we ought to even ask it.

I use a trick to generate random numbers: I look at the clock and do a quick modulus of the seconds. Going to start training myself to randomize what genders I tell people I am. I hope they fight about misgendering me when they see another person calling me a different gender.

I suspect the chaos about this will particularly troublesome to members of groups who use power games to police each other over language. If you have any suggestions on how to minimize the impact of this on trans folk, let me know. I'm open to changing my habits if I can.

I am so bad at trolling that this often happens, but in this case, I wouldn't even be mad.https://t.co/78MNMEHVle

Trolling myself.https://t.co/MvvrcnoFO4

I want to put my gender pronouns in my twitter bio.I genuinely think of myself an "it/them", but people see it as a form of harassment because "it" is often used to dehumanize trans people. All pronouns are valid? But I am not valid. My very essence is is rooted in hatespeech.

Ya'll afraid of molecules like me?https://t.co/fVnSKb1yXm

I can't update my twitter profile anymore because it literally thinks my pronouns are invalid.I wanted to add Varð-lokkur, but it doesn't seem to be the 'eth' character. Any changes breaks it.Can't make this shit up. https://t.co/9L4W19yFis

We should just call people by their names, that seems like the most respectful way to handle things. I'm pro-names.Sadly, the state wouldn't let me change my last name when I got married unless I paid. We seem to give that 'privilege' only to those assigned femme at birth.

Heaven forbid somebody violate a cultural naming convention. No literally, this is treated as taboo +affront to god.I wanna change my name formerly to 'ape', but everybody IRL throws a fit.I want my name to be [ ] like what Odysseus told the cyclops to anger Poseidon.

I'm going to grow some plants soon.https://t.co/smrKLGXTs6

I wonder if you can vape tobacco.https://t.co/9lvRC2qsXa

You can synthesize nicotine by growing tobacco in a small bin. Seems to be legal for personal use in most states (IANAL)https://t.co/dEpEPnf6Mz

I am not certain, but I bet since they are similar to tomatoes, might be easy to grow via diy 'topsy-turvy' designs.https://t.co/grrGInmMLRTho might not work well inside unless you have other plants below it to catch any water drips.

This looks like it might be a fairly complete series on growing your own. Haven't watched the whole thing yet, but shows how to modify the growing method for flower pots. https://t.co/hQQSYNErs6

I wanna listen to plants"Although Khait and his colleagues only looked at tomato and tobacco plants, they believe other plants may make sounds when stressed too. In a preliminary study, they also recorded ultrasonic sounds from a spiny pincushion cactus"https://t.co/BNEdHDaInn

Do tomato plants scream in pain when their leaves are being eaten? Does this attract parasitic wasps? Does the chemical signals released by hornworms cause them to feel pleasure instead?https://t.co/kq3PXkLhwLDo you wonder about wire-heading plants?https://t.co/kkds7Xmlr4

I knew grass let off toxins you can smell when the grass is cut. I have been trying to find a way to track this scent to minimize harm on grass from mowing so you get less rebound growth from grazing responses. Its why I knew about digital noses.https://t.co/nTlqVZcMIS

But thinking that they also scream and attract parasites is fascinating."We further show that the parasitoids are capable of distinguishing the damaged host plant from the non-host plant of the leafminers."https://t.co/AGLv2bt0fj

The idea of a parasite manipulating the host using hormones that impact it's behavior isn't entirely unfounded.A species of wasp have a larval life cycle that involves triggering spider molting behavior via injection.https://t.co/yqr1hrCTz6

I support trans people. I'm sorry if this thread comes off snarky. I genuinely feel for those who have health issues and are being over looked by the medical system.https://t.co/DVQZNLtIIM

All of my research into immune system issues tied to autism suggest gender hormones weirdness and extreme depression overlap. I can't speak on gender dysphoria, but there is no doubt in my mind that working on these hormones helps many people feel better.https://t.co/40x05giKb8

So I'm a 'cis male' trying to be more masculine to fight off estrogen's role in auto-immune disorders. Please don't consider me an ally. But don't want people to keep suffering. Too many of friends and twitter mutual have died because of depression. https://t.co/57Y4X9wYXu

I don't really get gender. This whole thread is a sort of protest about it. It feels meaningless to me. I don't care about it. In fact undermining how we perceive gender is something I actively subvert, normative or otherwise.https://t.co/kjUy6hMdiA

I don't believe in gender. But if someone is suffering because of this stuff, that matters to me. That is real, and tangible, and meaningful to me.That is what matters. Let a thousand genders bloom if it means people suffer less.https://t.co/UfrvRBaLPX

If we turn gender constructs into a fluid identity based caste system instead of using to prop up mid 18th century reproductive roles, we will be able to raise children in surrogate wombs to perpetuate the species in space. This is why I gravitate toward xenofeminism ideas.

I think I figured out why those help, and it suggests my hormonal/immune system autism idea (an alternative to the male brained theory of autism) might hold weight. This is coinciding with a huge hit against the extreme male brain theory was just publish. https://t.co/xIVS2MTGkK

I can literally use Ancient Sumerian and emoji as my twitter name, but still can't add Varð-lokkur to my bio because I'm an invalid character. https://t.co/PypLpWuS74

I think its funny that I inadvertently trolled myself using pronouns in bio, and have technically weaponized it into confusing people about what to call me.https://t.co/uGtAhlLfsZ

Achromobacter might be able to metabolize hydrazine https://t.co/3PKUEQqc3D which suggests it could destableize a parasitic co-fungi that steal nitrogens away from plants from standard ammonia pathways via Anammox capable species https://t.co/gwGpVeZDGs 😇

Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) bacteriahttps://t.co/aSo4ufoeFg

"existence [...] first predicted in the 1970s on the basis of thermodynamic calculations. Anammox bacteria oxidize ammonium to nitrogen gas using nitrite as an electron accepter under anoxic conditions, and their growth occurs by carbon dioxide fixation" https://t.co/v82BJ0qdLU

Hydrazine appears to be one of the suspected carcinogens in tobacco. https://t.co/myjwRMQzGq

Interestingly smokeless tobacco appears to have no trace of this chemical?https://t.co/xUcYl9vv4y

I am not sure why that is. There is speculation that the hydrazine is actually not in the tobacco it self, but a byproduct of the fermentation process contaminate. There is a lot of variability here. https://t.co/JfWng76VAQ

If the hydrazine is acting as a food source for a co-fungus, then it's possible that the fermentation process could be infected with a fungus in unsanitary environments. Given this is a farmed product that is harvested outside in the environment, that doesn't seem far fetched.

This is speculation, but we might expect in normal conditions that the tobacco fermentation is removing stuff like hydrazine as part of normal microbial/fungal metabolisms. If this is the case, then cutting corners here may explain why it shows up on occasion.

Fungal contaminates aren't unheard of in fermented products. Aflatoxins from problematic storage have shown up in tobacco from Egypt.https://t.co/cGFWUF6wL0Likely other sources have this problem.

Aflatoxin has also been found in Aspergillus infected coffee beans. As coffee is a fermented product as part of it's production, it is similarly an ideal environment. https://t.co/Lwilvws2ju

Given that the existing literature on hydrozine entering the tobacco plant is implicated as coming from azotobacter chrococum's production of it in the soil, there seems to already be a source of hydrazine available for fungus to potentially steal nitrogens from.

Tho it's worth noting that aspergillus strain that makes aflatoxin is an aerobic type, but the kind that cooperate with the ananamox are *anaerobic*.So we would have to look into what kind of toxins the anaerobic variety can produce, to learn what to look for.

Given lack of research on anaerobic fungus in the gut, and their products, I would expect these are understudied in general. https://t.co/w88aoGzvn1

We would expect coffee to normally be anareobic, given lactic acid bacteria are involved.https://t.co/cTiutoLgj8

Some varieties appear to be properly fermented after, and according to this it specifically uses a process that specifically releases ammonia. https://t.co/bk3ikBfNBlThat could potentially cause hydrazine via anammox...

It also looks like we may be able to do artificial fermentations somehow? That's wild.https://t.co/ofH30NDOXfI have no clue what that might lead to, but I suspect it would be much more controlled.

Long story short... the typical soil bacteria used to provide nitrogen for Tobacco might be putting a toxic chemical in the plant. There is also a potential that it isn't the bacteria itself, but the fermentation. Care should perhaps be taken if growing this yourself.

You may wanna takes steps to avoid accidentally extracting and concentrating hydrazine if you are using tobacco as a pharmaceutical source. Wither via extracting nicotine directly, or using a variety intended to produce other chemicals.https://t.co/9IBe1uW5qI

And for the budding research scientist who actulaly has a lab to study these things, would you mind taking a look at Achromobacter and similar hydrazine metabolizing bacteria/fungus to see if there may be other ways to avoid accidentally spiking our food with CNS poisons?

"sustainable crops production and N nutrition has been an important biotechnological challenging interest. This is a growing and promising market and currently the focus should be on developing innovative and competitive Azotobacter based biofertilizers"https://t.co/XMgHTA5YTf

Did you know Jack Parsons is indirectly responsible for figuring out hydrazine is useful for rocket fuel?I think we could twist this process around and use bioreactors to make it without poisoning everyone like aerojet may have. https://t.co/iDNxOUREszhttps://t.co/Pnlj81tfLi https://t.co/vSLrc9vUgR

Rocket fuel is very dangerous. There's a suspicion that gulf war syndrome and various cancers may be a result of hydrazine and nitric acids from SCUD missiles.https://t.co/7e1jYsYNVv https://t.co/HDMWvvSpPW

If we had multiple stages of bioreactors, with the hydrazine being metabolized away into less toxic sources of nitrogen, we might be able to make fertilizers in a way that actually sequesters CO2 https://t.co/xdyDbTpv9O

At least if you used the achromobacter based process combined with the azotobacter one.I'm just guessing here, but anammox process fixing carbon dioxide is probably related to why existing ammonia based fertilizer production systems produce so much CO2. https://t.co/6TiOuC9bEr

I think it's funny that I can just find videos online about how to produce rocket fuel. This looks extremely unsafe.https://t.co/07qVdf0Blv

"it's actually the precursor to a lot of pharmaceuticals"https://t.co/37rRVs1u5C

"combines dimethylhydrazine with dinotrogen tetroxide to show how hypergolic mixtures fire rockets into space."https://t.co/MIrrORHHqw

I made this joke a while back.I only just learned that literal rocket fuel chemicals are precursors to some pharmaceuticals from that NileRed video.https://t.co/8tKK3tmEWR

The devil's venom."With the reprinting of the classic book 'Ignition, And Informal History Of Liquid Rocket Propellants' I thought it would be fun to talk about the most dangerous substances ever tested in rocket fuels."https://t.co/dSoPC9PTWd https://t.co/uJoQpZ9AxT

Implies there is something in gut that can neutralize it."Toxicity was more severe in germ-free rats compared with conventional rats for equivalent exposures indicating that bacterial presence altered the nature or extent of response to hydrazine" [2009]https://t.co/TwRcYvb3Sq

Another interesting cancer causing toxic chemical (associated with pharmaceuticals) can also be neutralized by bacteria.https://t.co/WCFu9o2tNJ

Notably, that chemical is produced by Hydrazine from a common water sterilizing technique (ozonization)."N-Nitrosodimethylamine Formation from Hydrazine Compounds on Ozonation"https://t.co/0MJLAckqCH

I also saw that ozonization can make bromine into bromate. Various Bromines are common product of a number of potential bacterial contaminants.https://t.co/0vkUqroxQT

I find it vary curious that it's so common to treat waste water with ozone to sterilize it... and there are odd often unexplained contaminations of pharmaceutical products that consist of stuff that ozone reactions can produce.https://t.co/n69ZYa3T18

NDMA has already been implicated as potentially coming from bacterial precursors and wastewater."NDMA precursors are widespread throughout theenvironment, occurring in plants, fish, algae, urine, andfaeces"https://t.co/jczG88yNCh

If this is a hydrazine ozonization related contaminant, it suggests that we might be able to use basic distillation techniques to evaporate out the hydrazine from water. (Tho that doesn't actually solve the hydrazine, it just puts it into the environment.)https://t.co/Txkt5XCTQV

In much the same way as how boiling mushrooms is used to remove Gyromitrin by converting and boiling off the resulting hydrazine.Maybe there is a better way?https://t.co/nGyASAuMKk

@halvorz I was thinking about fermentation?Looking it up, This also mentions the ALS study and goes into more details. This says Gyromitrin is metabolized into monomethylhydrazine, so there might be others that work on same pathway. Maybe B6 would also help?https://t.co/MOQ6kw5cHm

I never thought a thread about gendering plants would get me into exploring rocket fuel, explosives, poisons, strong acids, and bacterial contaminates. There's a huge gap between learning about it and doing it. Don't play with rocket fuel unless you know what you're doing.
