I had a problem with doing. I only respected problems where I to think, and solve, and once I figured it out, it would be done. So when it came to things like chores, showering, walking between places, there was always a slight kind of dissociation. https://t.co/b6MBLR9krS

I had a problem with doing. I thought only in terms of capital, in terms of accumulating, saving. It didn’t occur to me *living* was the point. Spending. Cashing in. Experiencing. It took taking an eye off capital and putting one on experience. https://t.co/H0HnuTpBrB

half my insights on this platform are realising “hey, this is how the STEM world works. it turns this way of working is not actually adapted to working with how the real world works” https://t.co/u9Ys7BnoGI

When I saw how that doing, the folding of clothes, the taking out of trash—these were solving the real, micro problems of survival that let me or anyone exist, I settled much more in the presence of doing them.

I was doing something good. I was doing something worthy! I was present. https://t.co/ixa6ENzn9f

I think we settle much more into the present when we are with the reality of things.

On solving the little micro-problems actually needed for a full solution (here, taking out the trash, getting to places, to make the life actually happen) https://t.co/BsdM8W4BtO

Academia values Big Answers, and doesn’t value solving micro-problems. The world cares about having solved the little problems, and doesn’t care about your Big Answers. https://t.co/HEF9AFIUtD

Reading about treaties & congresses & resistances is amazing to me, because it shows just how big the question of tribalism is, and collectively surviving and providing order en masse. We don’t have to think about that, where we live in relatively stable territories and govts.

when i go to the gym, it’s instead like: “oh, knowing doesn’t matter. there’s just what’s done and what’s not done! what do i want to do next?”
