1/ Do you have an overactive charioteer (ie executive control)? I do. His grip on the reins is too tight. Not enough wiggle room for the rest of my mind. For the past few years, I've yelled at him: "Loosen up on the reins!" "Be more embodied!" "Allow yourself to feel!"... https://t.co/1Mw0BU9Ldw

3/ Recognize that your charioteer is an intellectual. You don't persuade intellectuals by shouting at them. You give them rigorous arguments! For people with overactive charioteers, it's not enough to just to point them to [deep meaning feels] if they don't see feels as valid

4/ So think: *Why* should I allow myself to feel deeply in the middle of a workday? *Why* should I work on an art project when I have shit to do? Won't these just throw me off?It turns out there might be good justifications you can show your inner charioteer.

@TylerAlterman I feel this. Big surprise to find that follow-through on intuition and generally soft skills improve only after grokking HOW they work. Game theory rly did wonders for my emotional intelligence lmao

@TylerAlterman yeah, there’s something about “you deserve an explanation” or “there may be no such thing as deserving. but this might actually work, and lead you to fullness” where before the charioteer was trying to suppress itself. impossible and not fun https://t.co/zzf1Qy5uTl
