is ‘imposter syndrome’ a psyop? i’ve sure felt stupid, inadequate and disoriented in intellectually challenging environments, but i’ve never thought of myself as ‘a fraud’ or as ‘not belonging’. what i did think is ‘boy is there much to learn!..’ what do y’all think?

@ulkar_aghayeva i haven't really felt like a "fraud" either I find a lot of the "everyone feels this way!" messaging a bit disingenuous coz 1) it's not strictly true, 2) actual impostors (rarely) do exist, and 3) feeling like this could be a helpful signal that something's wrong or misaligned

@ulkar_aghayeva for example it could be a sense that you haven't clarified your responsibilities, capabilities and people's expectations from you properly

@imperialauditor > I find a lot of the "everyone feels this way!" messaging a bit disingenuous exactly! it's almost forced upon you that you're supposed to feel this way bc all smart ppl do, after all
