this is the conceit of IFS, or of Buddhism — the Self energy in the first, intrinsic spacious enlightenment in the second that when we approach ourselves as almost separate beings, we engage ourselves with a similar healing as if someone else who was kind did https://t.co/atBPBWeXbu

that’s the informational/updating side on the healing/social side, the reason it matters for feels to be touched, is healing of social problems (or even otherwise) really best does happen when feels are touched and they can be touched . . . by ourselves.

there’s something about intersubjectivity, that’s so core to our emotional processing, and how we make sense of the world or rather, something so unnatural about the ego-construct, and how it evolved to keep us safe, and learn what not to do, and label us as good or bad

that gaining distance from ourselves can help more accurately bend against reality https://t.co/K2YJqoy0Le

this “self-distancing” is also the central conceit of dating yourself https://t.co/Qgue9DdZpE

maybe it’s something about humans desiring intersubjectivity maybe feeling touch is inherently healing, because what what touch is saying, “i felt this, i perceived what you are feeling, and it is ok” “hence, you can feel it and move on” https://t.co/eLfs6ueR4u

the higher cognitive space can schematise all it wants, and it’ll may only ever change thoughts to help feelings shift, one tunes into what one is actually feeling. by taking the mental move of “feel the feeling,” something non-trivial happens: https://t.co/2t4CkoghfH

the intersubjective touch is saying, “i perceived you, i felt what you are feeling, and this is ok” tagging that feeling too as “this is tolerable. this is allowable into consciousness. this is respondable-to” maybe this is what the jungian psychoanalysts call “alpha function”
