ok, im comparing jbp’s style to Joe Rogan’s, and Joe Rogan’s feels like such a dick in comparison https://t.co/NCpx13d7P9

Many of his lectures that don’t intersect the culture war feel kind, and nuanced. Akira the Don’s Meaningwave tracks are an incredibly fun way to consume them. https://t.co/lJ6WdLbX6y

compare: Joe Rogan on the left JBP on the right they’re both saying essentially the same thing. “go to the gym” “it’s hard, i know” “do it anyway” https://t.co/rUdX9o6hZZ https://t.co/HtGqmdYfbn

Joe Rogan is like: i don’t even understand why these people struggle, man. i just don’t. i solved these problems meanwhile JBP is like: you can’t make any excuses for yourself. it’s totally understandable where you are, and that still doesn’t make excuses

it’s not that Joe Rogan isn’t kind. just that it lacks any sort of tenderness or more feminine kindness altogether to me, it doesn’t feel kind. that doesn’t mean it isn’t

if masculine kindness is holding you to a higher standard of performance and telling you the external truth feminine kindness is holding you to a higher standard of dignity, and telling you emotional truths

jbp blends both, Joe Rogan barely has anything one may call nuance or tenderness here

there really was something special about jbp he has a flavour of kind. not compromising his truth, but not somehow failing to understand you either to fail to understand you would not just be unkind. it would be deliberately confused, about the emotional truth https://t.co/wumruLy3IQ

This is what I mean I say non-naïve kindness. Anything except kindness is confused. Anything except non-naïve is not truthful.

(the emotional truth about why this is happening) sometimes it’s useful to not get into the emotional truth. and just demand performance. it’s not unkind—just a different style

to construe it as entirely unkind is to project an itself fascist kind of femininity and not take the incredible diversity of people who think differently than me to heart

maybe Joe Rogan’s style works for some people. maybe people who have a less troubled relationship with authority. Joe Rogan is just expressing himself (this sounds more like an interview than a lecture) etc. https://t.co/VsnmpTCESw

there’s a midwit/topwit meme to be made here, and i think @diviacaroline already made it > I think some people have either basically healthy relationships with authority… or… different flavor of issue where getting this type of message as an imperative is pretty healing? https://t.co/wGvUEty4HU https://t.co/Uo5sX94Ayl

phrasing it this way makes me feel less . . . compulsively about it maybe not my first preference, but i can see it as cool in its own way. in the same way anything in the universe is kind https://t.co/X4q93hgVV9

when i was in the phase where i was listening to Alan Watts (last year), i totally wouldn’t have wanted to listen to jbp his advice wouldn’t have worked. i was looking for more fundamental answers https://t.co/Q0JafjokvL

everything can be seen as an expression of kindness, or of enlightenment (or suffering, or really anything) sometimes the lines of connection are clearer and straighter than for others, and the clarity is different for different people

it also feels like an adult/adolescent dimension Joe Rogan feels more like the adolescent masculine compared to someone like Jocko Willink, very adult masculine energy https://t.co/1d5R4dbIDx

@TheOrangeAlt @natural_hazard @Malcolm_Ocean @QiaochuYuan Adolescent = individual-oriented, thinks in terms of transactions and credit makes decisions based on how their status will be in group Adult = kin-oriented, think in terms of group and aesthetics makes decisions based on what they want to have happen in the group

something about, “i figured out my status, and it’s time for you” vs “i built a stable home that provides shade, and i will support you as you figure yours out” https://t.co/A3ORBb2A92
