by consensus, i don’t mean “everyone agrees on the same thing” or even “everyone is happy about this,” but a sort of stable “everyone knows what everyone else thinks,” the tribe knows what it all thinks, and it’s stable, there’s no more changes based on what someone thinks

it almost reminds me of the middle-school boy kids puffing their chest and inventing these various stories about “that dragon that i slayed” or “this treasure i found” as other kids look on in awe and hierarchy-determining
