an interesting pattern I’ve noticed in my DMs is how many people berate themselves for “being stupid” when actually what they need is not intelligence but courage

if you’re a coward, and you misdiagnose yourself as an idiot, you’re going to be stuck there indefinitely https://t.co/wDKS62i5dG

you can’t think your way out of a courage deficit

but I think “cowardice” has very negative connotations for people, and so I get the sense that people would rather think of themselves as stupid, or lazy, than scared but you have to diagnose a problem correctly in order to solve it

If you’re so smart why aren’t you rich/happy/etc is valid criticism as all of these just *are* achievable if you’re sufficiently smart 😊

@visakanv Hmm realizing your point might itself be bottlenecked by intelligence lol so yes you can think your way out of a courage deficit (by realizing you can’t)

@visakanv I think you're right. however I think courage is frequently misunderstood as an individual quality that resides inside of you. courage is developed thru reciprocal encouragement. companionship is upstream of courage.
