When we’re feeling anxious and work on a computer . . . the anxious becomes spacious. It enters the spaciousness of the computer. We feel good about it. Anxiousness helps us work within it.

The computer is a way to hold anxiety in a comfortable way that contracts again once we stop. This is the neurotic form of any element: when there is too little space around it. Conversely, the liberated form of anxiety is an eagerness to do.

The world feels dangerous, and so we do not allow spaciousness within ourselves, within the world. We give it spaciousness within the computer.
