Threading some notes from my latest reread of Pressfieldās War of Art (2002). I revisit it often in search of guidance and encouragement when working https://t.co/CzluYOc7hW

009: The War of Art. If you do anything creative at all, I highly recommend this. Short and easy read, yet somehow lots of powerful points from someone who truly knows and lives the creative's struggle. Bound to find a burning truth that you're overlooking https://t.co/Ee1VsjJ2Ix

first some screencaps of my notes in roam book has 3 sections or sub-books, this is book 1 https://t.co/7Cn0xVIo0I https://t.co/WXQ52mxALQ

the book itself is a very breezy 165 page read, with very short sections, highly recommend reading the whole thing. these are just the bits that I expect to revisit and re-reference regularly https://t.co/Ql4ygx3OzW

book 1 is about the Resistance ā the Ego-driven fear that keeps us from our work book 2 is about going Pro, the mindset shift to becoming a professional book 3 is about the Higher Realm, or the nature/source of creativity, coming from beyond the ego ā whether God, Muses, etc https://t.co/vPzbtSKqx4

I could tweet every page if Iām not careful so Iāll prioritise the ones that I wrote the most in hereās a good one: once you get your draft out of you, you naturally start tinkering & improving it. Really, the work improves itself in your presence it doesnāt exactly āneedā you https://t.co/bbl6Lcc69w

I thought this was a sharp observation ā that would-be idolators are endlessly curious about personal details, but personal details are really minimally relevant to an artistās work. Youād know, if you just did the fucking work rather than copy someoneās apps and morning routine https://t.co/SfKfqCy2ZO

š^ hereās an anecdote that FASCINATES me: Pressfield describes being broke & miserable, & how he spent 2hrs writing (which he immediately trashed!), and how that creative act gave him the energy to do dishes heād put off for 10 days!!! This sort of thing is underappreciated IMO https://t.co/EFC8y0ZD2N
