I always worried about buying clothes that were too “gaudy” or “tacky” to other people. Thoughts on this?

@AskYatharth I've worried about it more with outfit construction than with buying clothes. I buy clothes I think look cool that I think I'd enjoy wearing. It's at the point where I actually put an outfit together that I think like "do these things like tacky together?"

@AskYatharth i've never worried about this 😅 i've just gotten better at making my weird taste work when i lived with my mom she'd always tell me i was going out looking like a refugee 💅

@AskYatharth in retrospect, my taste (and lack of awareness/interest in other people's taste) can probably be attributed to autism (love of patterns and colors and visible textures = sensory seeking)

when & why people do point out something is tacky, i can just be sincere & earnest and point out what i do like, while completely accepting it does look tacky to them and i may want to change, but also i completely do like it
