It's interesting to see that I give a large share of my disposable cash to people on Twitter who are making cool things. And many of them are giving me money, which helps me do the same. We're all sort of investing in each other to help each other grow ❤️

@m_ashcroft "but where did this person get the money to pay for an online course?" "by teaching an online course themselves." "but where did *their* students get the money?" "from their online courses, naturally." "but where did—" "stop, stop. it's online courses all the way down."

@DRMacIver @m_ashcroft @mechanical_monk TLDR simplification it comes from trade. We each have to specialise at what we do, and trade. I’ll specialise in finding new people who are paying customers. Y’all focus on becoming the best in the world at what you do https://t.co/bZjqaPExpG

Idk if Rosenfelder is quoting Jacobs directly when he says "This is how every developed nation started [...] there is no other way." no. other. way. *everything* is a remix remixers accumulate knowledge and power you get to originality by first being derivative No Other Way https://t.co/QOYeAunyaa

@DRMacIver @mechanical_monk I guess *this problem* eventually collapses down into households, business and governments giving money to each other and we largely* don't have a problem with that *looking at you libertarians

@DRMacIver @m_ashcroft i think when i drew this i was trying to handwave towards something related to what you're handwaving towards now https://t.co/xiizjz3lnj

@RichDecibels @Malcolm_Ocean Actually, relevant video from the course You can imagine this collapse of awareness making it more difficult to notice what's going on with other people as well as limiting your own possible 'movements' This effect would compound as group size increases https://t.co/Hh6iypIBjk

@m_ashcroft @Malcolm_Ocean This is sending me on another trip: explicitly projecting subtle group dynamics into 2D space is maybe always (?) transformative. Eg family constellations therapy. Or asking a group to arrange in the room based on status.

@m_ashcroft @RichDecibels this is actually one way that recording & listening to conversations can be really valuable I've listened to recordings of people close to me that have gotten me activated/triggered in ways that would be unworkable in a live convo but with a recording I can process async

@m_ashcroft @RichDecibels this is both because I have time to pause and recenter myself and also because if I were there live I might have had more of a compulsion to *say something* to show that I don't silently assent to some BS whereas if it's already happened, just listening doesn't assent per se
