I'm creating a new supplemental section for my Alexander Technique course on communication/social/speaking Basically how to use all this awareness stuff in real life when talking to people in different settings. One thing I'm toying with adding is 'awareness counter-measures'

So I talk a lot about bringing conscious control to your own awareness and all the benefits that flow from that. But there's another dimension to this, which is that the way other people control (or not) their awareness will have some effects on you...

It's kinda like the stuff I demo'd in this video, but there's more to it Basically, when other people's awareness is collapsed onto you this comes across as a kind of intensity that can be uncomfortable if you're sensitive to it https://t.co/AV6lMGBFEX

By the way I'm not sure what the mechanism is yet, but let's say mirror neurones for now as a placeholder until I get a better sense of this. For example, their collapsed awareness on you can feel like pressure or of being overly scrutinised and might make you behave in odd ways

Odd ways meaning: - not recognising that all this is going on and instead just generally feeling uncomfortable, so there's a "noticing that this is happening" skill - saying or doing things to alleviate the feeling or interpreting it as "I have to placate them" or similar - etc

Since mind conversation you can hardly say "excuse me, sir, I have a hunch that your awareness is collapsed on me and it's rather uncomfortable, would you might awfully becoming aware of the space around you and giving me a little less attention?" other techniques are needed

this all comes down to different ways that you can play with your own awareness to give you more space whether or not they're doing it consciously, this kind of 'defence against the dark arts' is a good thing to be able to do so yeah I think I'll do a lesson on this

Also meta comment but this "core course" then extra add-on supplemental micro-courses on application areas seems to be the way to go https://t.co/D1gcYhRJi6
