My read on the trajectory here, with more people seeming to be frustrated with “postrat” may require some visual aids. https://t.co/L2Ef0MXaq6

This circle is rationalism. https://t.co/uolCwTOsq4

A lot of people found it useful and clustered in a few zones within rationalism. https://t.co/zCPXDzi9Y1

Over time, the limits of rationalist beliefs and attitudes became clearer, people started moving to the edges, and beyond them. Some just a lil beyond. Some way beyond. Some in one direction. Others in other directions. https://t.co/0m3jqn7wLX

What they largely shared was something like a “expat from rationalism” vibe. They had a shared homeland, and could commiserate a lot over its good and bad points, even if where they were *now* were pretty different places.

Over time, clusters formed outside the walls, with fairly different cultures. https://t.co/gDdCtFuAx7

Plus, people who were never rationalists, but do vibe with the new clusters start coming in and pulling on these clusters as well https://t.co/rIZ7HMhGS2

They slowly settled into things with borders and orthodoxies of their own. https://t.co/HQPZeTPLRe

Because these clusters are *specifixally* made up of people who’ve been through the experience of “recognized the limits of one informal orthodoxy and felt a need to get outside of it,” the process gets accelerated here.

But because there are multiple clusters, and humans are good at reflexive tribalism, people in each cluster are seeing their own cluster as a new, exciting playground, While seeing the limitations creeping up on the OTHER clusters https://t.co/3YxP3Tpfkn

Postrat Twitter is dead. May prosperity continue to come to Dharma Twitter, Self-Therapy Twitter, Cozy Twitter, Meta- Twitter, Soulmaking Twitter, Horny Twitter, Psychedelic Twitter, and the other outlying tribes.
