wow after years of reading bout it, I *finally* experienced “memory is stored in the body”! helping my partner move a couch —> jammed my head between couch & van —> didn’t even hurt, but I SOBBED uncontrollably for 40min.

I linked this to past, uh, ‘playground trauma’ and also how young me *never* experienced crying as a possibly-connective action. I was always just sent to my room; parents said they’d talk to me once I was ‘presentable’

my partner was lovely about it though. totally this. I now aspire to spread this energy around, myself, too 💕 https://t.co/VvysZuoP71

My answers to the first are also often just “a HUG and to CRY safe and warm in the arms of someone who loves me” 🙌 and my answers to the second usually skip that part.

A really shit aspect of being neglected when I cried is that I never learned how to be there for sobbing others either...I mostly freeze or try-to-fix. but having experienced another option - I’m getting it. 🙏
