Being likeable is important because it is the only way to get needs while being ourselves. It’s different from people-pleasing that way.

People-pleasing is asking everyone you’ve ever met to “please! can’t you see that I’m trying! tell me this is ok!” Being likeable is recognising no one ever can. https://t.co/b33vZKKqP0

The drama is a plea to show your authority figures you ARE doing something. Can’t they see?? Gosh, I get chills writing this, feeling into the truth of how I still do this to this day. https://t.co/DXF3Itu7tX

No one can ever say ok to you, because that ok is measured up against something false. An endorsement that if given to you would immediately fall shallow. Instead what may be given is supportiveness and clarity.

Asking if it’s ok is the equivalent of asking for the consolation prize. The trouble with giving people the consolation prize is they don’t really want it. All you want is to inspire them for a moment longer to keep searching, or not searching, or whatever it is, and be charming

People are charming when they’ve accepted the social situation they are in and commit to it and play it will.
